    Mesa WD800 ohm question

@agedhorse I apologize for reviving a zombie thread, but this came closest to answering my question while not quite getting there. I just purchased the WD800 as well. I currently have an 8 ohm 410 cabinet, and am running the head at the correct 4/8ohm impedance. If I wanted lower output so I can...

Those also look great. I’d love to find them both in person to try somehow. Doesn’t the WD800 have a tube preamp as well or are you saying the TT has an additional tube? I also shoot for tight and punchy so WD still seems like my Huckleberry so far.

I’m really glad to hear that. That’s the exact one I was looking at. Thank you!

I’m assuming that’s just fan noise and it’s not coming through the speakers? I’m ok with fan noise as long as the speakers are quiet.

Good to know, Mesa is number one on my list so far just based on reading and sound samples alone. More than likely I’ll be going the same route.

I’m feeling the same. I’ll be returning it and looking elsewhere. What’d you go with instead?

Not likely. The noise is definitely coming out of the speakers and I haven’t even noticed the fan kicking on.

Also, I’m hesitant to just order a replacement because Jason at GK claimed my experience was normal. If this is their new normal I’m afraid I’m hopping off the GK train after all these years.

    Gallien-Krueger Legacy 800 - has anyone found a remedy?

Potentially. The closest dealer that has any of the legacy heads or combos in stock is just shy of 3 hours from me or else I’d definitely give that a shot.

I haven’t. Unfortunately I don’t have another. I did however take the tweeter out of the 410 last night based on some suggestions that the tweeter is highlighting the hiss from the noise floor. I realize that switching it over to bi-amp with the speakon should eliminate the tweeter altogether...

Someone at Sweetwater recommended trying a noise gate/suppressor in the fx loop. Does anyone have any experience doing something like that?

That sucks about the mesa, that was going to be the next company I started exploring. Do you have any other experience with Mesa amps or just the D800+?

Hey Aloe, thanks! Happy to be here. Unfortunately I thought the same initially as well but it’s there with or without a cable plugged into the amp. I tried plugging my P bass directly in and turned the volume on both the bass and the amp all the way down. I also unplugged entirely, cable...
