What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Outside at a Catholic picnic, to about 800 people. This is my standard “rig” since we have a silent stage. Direct into an x32 into 4 EV 18” subs and 4 EV 15”/horns.

    Bartolini Bit the Dust

It Is, specifically the Bartolini in my bass that died. I was looking for similar stories before I pulled the trigger on another Bart...which i did, btw.

    Bartolini Bit the Dust

I’m not taking it as arguing, I’m just looking at the schematic showing all wires running into the pre-amp. Bartonlini also believes the pre-amp went bad (my words, not theirs).

    Bartolini Bit the Dust

Maybe, but even in passive mode, the signal still passes through the pre-amp. So if the pre-amp shorted out (or something catastrophic), it could keep signal from passing through.

    Bartolini Bit the Dust

No. There is a buzz, almost like a ground, but it's only when the volume is 1/2, not there when it's all the way up or all the way down. Does that in active and passive.

    Bartolini Bit the Dust

So, short version, I lost all output on my Lakland 55-02 (2005 with Barts). In troubleshooting, the push/pull volume pots came apart. Ordered and installed a new one, still no output. My tech believes the Bart pre shorted out when the pot came apart. He verified the pick-ups had output and there...

    Most Disappointing purchase

Mine was a Line 6 HX Stomp. Have several friends that have some version of the Helix, and I really wanted to love it and I jumped in with both feet. I could never get it to sound quite the way wanted. I also discovered that being able to see and hear the changes twisting a knob on an analog...

    Calluses

Yeah...I'm a regular blood donor. They get freaked out when the little needle gets stuck in my fingertip.

    Calluses

My string time has ramped up considerably since the first of the year. I was down to an hour or 2 a week, to now a minimum of 10-12 hours a week. I never lost my calluses, but they have definitely gotten harder and more prominent...which is great as far as I'm concerned. My question is, do any...

Gene Simmons Said “any equipment will do and will get the job done”

Nice click-bait thread title...your post doesn't mention Gene Simmons at all...but it worked and flooded the thread with the usual Gene bashers. Not that I care, just pointing out what nobody else did, so I mean no disrespect. Like 1/3 of the comments, I say he's right, to a point. You have to...

    Eddie Van Halen: Bassist

His bass playing on "Give to Live" is a lesson in great melodic bass playing while still keeping a slightly aggressive edge.

Gene Simmons is a better bassist...

The Gene Simmons of 2020 is nothing like the Gene Simmons of 2000 and earlier. Like everyone, he has grown and changed. I would hope people could see me as I am now, instead of the stupid things I said and did in my 20's...hell, even my early 30's. He is one of the most philanthropic...

Gene Simmons is a better bassist...

I've always said the first 3 albums, had great playing. I also challenge anybody to sing while playing some of those early lines. See the song "Watchin You" for for a great example. Also, the live version of "100,000 Years" has a phenomenal triplet groove. I don't see how he plays it so smoothly...

What bass is this? (Michael Anthony of VH)

Not that it matters, other than the overall timing, but I believe he signed over his publishing just before 1984 came out. So he missed out on all of the Sammy era royalties (which was there biggest selling period). The absolute kicker is that it was retroactive, so when he signed, he gave up...
