Fender James Jamerson 62 Precision - limited run?

I prefer my AO 60s to the AVRI 63 that I have (most will call me nuts) and I prefer my 50s AO even more. It’s such a personal thing. I’ll add another log to the fire I just don’t see enough difference between this and the AVRI series which you can find secondary market and cheaper. …. Unless...

    EMG GZR Short Circuit

Cool! Yes mine is a 2013 and I’ve basically changed everything on it including the neck and tuners. And, yes, I’m pretty sure I have the grounds connected correctly. I need to check the phase issue @Matt Liebenau mentioned above. That’s my next todo as I am finding these pups very lacking...

    EMG GZR Short Circuit

Thank you @Paul New I've checked this guitar cord - am I doing this correctly? If yes, it appears my direct method into the jack was producing false negatives (0.00). With this method I'm getting readings between 10 and 11. Thank you to the others who have posted to this question as well...

    EMG GZR Short Circuit

Just installed EMG GZR in a Fender precision bass (just the P pickups, not the PJ). Sound is quiet and thin. Not what I expected with this pickup. With my pots turned fully open on volume and tone I used my multi-meter on the 20k ohms setting, put the red probe to the bottom of the input jack...

Will need to try one of these tools. I’ve had finish flake off around the neck pocket taking the neck off

Agree. Subtle differences make it difficult to part with one over the other. I do like the tint on the AO but the AVRI clay dots are nicer and the C neck on the AVRI, with smaller frets and 7.5 radius feels less cumbersome than the AO, at least to me. I have not screwed around with tinting.

@Starduck1476 nice!! I’ll throw some logs on. AO 60. AVRI 63. The AVRI just edges the 60 out on several fronts IMO. The bursts are better on the AVRIs.

Haha. That’s what AO owners do. They butt in. Jk 😆. Yes agree both great basses with the AO adding that modern twist. I do find my AO much heavier though and prefer the AV for gigs when standing.

Cool thanks all to have posted on this! Great info! Out of curiosity @moreblues - I'm assuming you prefer you the AVRI63 to the AO60s?

Ok, this this indicates to me, then, that Fender kept the same part number, 095620000, and called it two different things in the specs, updating it to what we now all refer to as the PV63, but what once was, in Fender marketing speak, the AV63 pups ... ok, thanks for the information. This is...
