I picked up an old Ampeg PA for literally nothing and it does have the perfect sound really.

Rosewood. If the finish isn't perfect on the maple man does it go bad fast. If you are buying a real Fender I'd hope that wouldn't be an issue, i have seen it on nice squiers though.

Ric is one of the smarmiest companies to talk to in person. I've tried to get parts for discontinued models to have them laugh at me. I love their guitars, I agree the bass is the standard but it's never floated my boat. Business model wise they keep themselves exclusive to keep the price up...
