    . I lost a $20 bet in 1973 swearing that a female sang this Hit R&B song. I was convinced when I saw the singing group called the Stylistics on T.V. Back then lots of R&B vocal groups a guy that sang with a falsetto voice…but not as predominant or smooth as Russell Thompkins Jr.

    I started listening to these ladies around mid 60’s. People’s opinions about Berry Gordy varies but the thing i’ll give him is that he had the best musicians, song writers, recording engineers and recording studios a performing artist or group could hope for at that time.

    One really useful bit of advice for young bassist starting out

    How’s your timing? I’ve seen guys with amazing chops (talent) but needed work on their timing. I guess they took it for granted at some point.

    Old school funk at its finest. The bass-player in this song has a beautiful bass line.
