agree, it sounds like a short period, but in vintage hifi repairs it is often assumed that electrolytes deteriorate after about 10 years. Does not do any harm to check them out. On the original repair thread , that I saw after posting here, I posted what I think are schematics and Service Manual...

Invalid Link Removed has this schematics and service manual, many electrolytes that can easily be replaced. unless, of course, it is a different brand, maybe, or it is established that the fault is in the integrated circuits, but worth a try I'd say. cost of parts will be in the 10's of...

stupid question from my side:: did you take the Amp to a tech for revision? after 8 years, some electrolytes likely need replacing, and, after that, it will sing like before.

hmm.. I'd pick up the one I like on Thursdays and put the other on layaway until the credit card people have made up their mind ;-)
