is there anywhere that has wiring plans or anything like that?

I was wondering if I'm able to use most any drum trigger or if it's only certain one's that will work for amplifying my bass. I'm completely new to the instrument and musical world in general and am not trying to spend money I don't have on some fancy expensive thing that will make my crappy...
