The 3-way switch was funky on mine when I got it- crackly and the bridge pickup would occasionally drop out on some settings. After a good cleaning and running it back and forth for a minute, it's right as rain! Set up has been a tad bit trickier. A tech at the store spent 3 hours cleaning it...

I have GHS Pressurewound strings (medium) on my '79 and so far I love them! They sound good both with picks (I use green & blue gator, felt and hard rubber) and fingers. We play mostly surf rock and blues. In comparison, I do have flats on my SR300 and rounds on my SRX500.

Thank you! :-) I'm new to the Musician bass, but from what I've seen, that is normal placement for 1979 MC900. Apparently some people/shops mod the jack plate by adding an additional metal plate for reinforcement. I guess this location is not very stable, so it may have been moved around on...

I'm home now taking the 1979 MC900 for a shakedown run through the Fender 400 Pro. (Oh myyyyyyy!!) Meanwhile, this happens.... It seems Abby approves ;-)
