    Schecter Stiletto + Fishman Fluence

Well, I pulled the trigger on a Stiletto Stealth b-stock I found online. I decided the pickguard made too much sense on a practical and an aesthetic level. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to take this to a tech or if I want to try to stretch my skills a bit and try the install myself. I...

    Schecter Stiletto + Fishman Fluence

So after playing the Stiletto Stealth in-store and mulling it over, I am going to go back to the store and ask someone to remove the pickguard so I can see what route is actually in the neck position. If it's a generic route that can fit an EMG (and I wouldn't have to remove any wood), I may buy...

    Schecter Stiletto + Fishman Fluence

Well thank you chiming in, I was definitely one of the confused. Your clarification explains a lot, including how the pickups can be wired with tone pots and Fishman's little custom capacitors, and how other folks successfully wired - for example - the Fishman pups to an EMG EQ section.

    Schecter Stiletto + Fishman Fluence

On this note, I had a chat with their tech support a while back, and they explained that Fishman Fluence preamps are built-into the pickups' enclosures. It's part of the PCB, iirc. Funny enough, since the Fluence line aren't terribly high in output compared to like an EMG or similar, I've read...

    Schecter Stiletto + Fishman Fluence

J, Thanks a ton for your responses! I feel like I'm headed in the right direction with this idea. Excellent, that seemed to be the case just from eyeballing it. I have been considering what to do, since the Mike Inez neck pickup only has 2 voices (not 3) and has no "single coil" mode (since...

    Schecter Stiletto + Fishman Fluence

Hello, I'm hatching a little plan and am trying to reality check my idea/needs. I bought a set of Fishman Fluence Mike Inez soapbar bass pickups a while back, and never wound up putting them in my beater bass (too much work on the bass, bass too heavy anyway). I want to get an affordable bass...

New Pickups for Schecter Diamond 5 Custom

Howdy, I saw your questions have gone unanswered. I'm in the process of taking a similar approach to you. I bought the Mike Inez Fishman Fluence set with the intent of modding an old beater bass, but decided i'm better off finding a bass with the correct shaped routes in the first place. The...

EMG GZR P/J or AG 4P/J-HC?

Well I don't have any experience with the PUs your asking about, but you mentioned not enjoying the "hi-fi" sound, and so I have a personal recommendation. I just installed a DiMarzio Area P in my PJ, which is their "vintage style" P bass. It uses alnico 2 magnets with a metal backplate, and...

    Schecter Diamond J Wiring

I have a Diamond P, and a few days ago I ripped out all the wiring in it and replaced the PUs with a set of DiMarzio Area P/Js. Regardless of how they sound, I can tell you that the wires in my bass were totally different colors than yours. There were no yellow wires or grey wires... My bass is...

    Adding a Mudbucker and a MM-style to a Fender P bass.

I realize it's your first routing/installation project... if you want it to be done WELL, just pay for it to be done professionally, put simply. If you're working on a project bass, like I am... well hey, it's your bass. I barely managed to avoid mangling my electronics while installing my new...

    Dimarzio Area PJ Set

Here are the sound samples I promised. They are kinda slapdash and aren't meant for super-critical listening. They probably don't match up perfectly, volume-wise. Hopefully they still give lislteners a clear enough sense of the differences between my stock pickups and the gist of the DP251s...

    Dimarzio Area PJ Set

I did not replace the pots in my bass. I don't know what values they are tho: i didnt' bother to check when i had my bass pulled apart. 250k pots are typical for passive Fender-style basses if I am not mistaken. But I've read about ppl using either 250k or 500k Ohm pots with these pickups and...

    Dimarzio Area PJ Set

Good morning, zombies~ Wakey Wakey Just wanted to bother this old thread so I could thank the contributors. These sound samples persuaded me that the DiMarzio DP251 set was a good buy for me. I just installed them in my Schecter Diamond P... it didnt' go perfectly, as the stock pickups are...

A Warning...watch yer fingers (for Dummies)

I recall one day about 10 years ago when I was polishing my cymbals (I'm a drummer too), I took them outside to get started, carrying the smallest ones atop each consecutive bigger one. The door to the outside wasn't open enough to let me fit through with my 20" ride, so I though to myself...

    Ethos Clean

One more update: I received a Keeley Compressor Pro yesterday, and that is now my gain stage between the bass and the Ethos. Now I can turn my pickups all the way up! First observation is that this helps the tone going into the Ethos tremendously. Not because the Keeley is colored, but because...
