Well thank you chiming in, I was definitely one of the confused. Your clarification explains a lot, including how the pickups can be wired with tone pots and Fishman's little custom capacitors, and how other folks successfully wired - for example - the Fishman pups to an EMG EQ section.

On this note, I had a chat with their tech support a while back, and they explained that Fishman Fluence preamps are built-into the pickups' enclosures. It's part of the PCB, iirc. Funny enough, since the Fluence line aren't terribly high in output compared to like an EMG or similar, I've read...
