I love the RE20 on low end sources! Something about the frequency response, its pickup pattern and how it treats transients makes it very pleasing to listen to on bass.

if mic’ing the cab is feasible definitely try that. I also agree that messing with your gain staging might get you a better direct out sound. For cab sims, two notes has some great virtual bass cabs including plenty that are based on fender cabinets. It’s pretty easy to get a good sound with those.

love the look of these things. I’ve been GAS’ing over the Shadows Bass for years.
