I'm not sure. I just picked up both of them in the last month. I loved the 1st one so much I had to get another. I believe the newer ones have the tailpiece. I only say that because if you look at them on Musicians Friend, the ones they are selling have the tailpiece.

It is such a nice case that I would have paid $100 for it. The Classic is snug, if the Z is any larger I doubt that it would fit.

I am not sure. I have two Maranello Classics. I think that they are the same size as the Z. I'm not sure that. That case is $49.99 @ Musicians Friend right now. It might be worth the chance for you. I took a chance and it worked.

I love the Italia basses. i have a Gold Maranello and a Blue Maranello. Amazing old school tone. I'd say Motown sound. its a shame i don't have anything left to trade. I traded my Schecter Studio 8 for the Gold one. Good quality stuff!
