Influences and Teachers

Victor Wooten, Jaco, Stanley Clarke, Peter Cetera, Paul McCartney, uncounted bluegrass recording bassists, Willie Nelson's, Charlie Daniel's bass players, and any other bass player who has taste and does not overplay and/or can tastefully play his or her ass off...anyone who's a member of an ensemble who does his job so well to seem almost unnoticeable. As long as a player does it with taste it doesn't matter to me if it's complex fusion or simple 1-4-5 playing...it's cool with me.

Additionally, my private music teachers, George Haller and Jim Shaner...instilling in me a good, pragmatic, and commercial attitude about my music...as well as my former bandleaders, Dave Bilger and Sonny Miller, for allowing and helping me to grow in my skills in different directions over almost fifty years of gigging; may they both rest in peace. Additionally, my former high school students (I did not teach music...science was my day gig...but we talked music and equipment) who shared their motivations with me while I returned the favor, as well as G.A.S., with them.

Hobbies and Interests

Rescuing and taking care of animals, walking, reading, computers, watching the Phillies, taking naps. Am sort of a "completist" concerning my Amplified Musical Products (AMP) amplifier collection--I want them as vintage as possible...which is a challenge concerning that the control knob inserts like to disappear! Update...I did find a source for these migrant parts, but they are pricey.
