Thanks for your input. Just found out that these two Vintage 64's from diff. sellers are both "packaged new in the box" bought as "overstock from authorized dealers". No warranty though. So-o...what could go wrong?!

Lately I am seeing this really pretty vintage 64 jazz bass in placid blue as "New/Other" on ebay for about $1500, from a few LA area sellers offering "local pickup". That's about $700 off list. I'm thinking of asking a seller to meet at a local guitar shop and have it checked out by a third...
