Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

I was locked out of my computer for about a day and a half. But that's another story... In the meantime, I tried plugging the amp into the same outlet that my computer and external speakers are indirectly plugged into (via a UPS battery backup). I'm still getting used to the fact that the...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

I'll have to check out my computer's audio settings and driver when I have more time. The cable is a Monster Essentials 9.8 foot 1/8-inch mini-to-mini cable. It's the only male-to-male 1/8-inch interconnecting cable that I've got. I wouldn't be able to go any shorter than the 3-meter cable...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

There's no hum when connected to my phone. But I get an annoying hum when the cable is plugged into either the headphone jack on my computer or the one on the external speakers.

    What’s the deal with flats?

What's the deal with flats? Funkier sound, fewer string changes. I've had LaBella Deep Talkin' flats 760FLs on my passive Fender Jaguar for about 1 1/2 years. I thought I might prefer the mediums after switching from medium gauge roundwounds, but haven't been tempted since trying the 760FLs...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

Thanks! I've seen both of those videos a few times. I really liked the comparison format of the second video, in which I preferred the weightier tone of the 500 and 800, but not by much. I was pretty sure that a slight twist of the bass knob would make up the difference. The real star of that...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

The new gear arrived Friday afternoon. I unboxed it, but was only able to verify that it worked before being distracted. I couldn't get any sound out of it at first, but it turns out I had it turned way too low. Maybe the output of my passive Fender Jaguar is on the low side. At least I was...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

Too late, it's on the way – now expected to be delivered early next week. I rather doubt it will to be too weak for my purposes, but even if that turns out to be the case, I wouldn't expect much more from the pf500, which I see as more of an upgrade in features rather than in power. I'd go...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

Well, a seller on Ebay offered me a good deal on a new pf350 and 115he, so I decided to be "sensible". I should have the amp and cab by the end of the week. And I'm sure the pair will meet my needs for a long time to come. A big 'Thanks!' to everyone who posted in this thread. I had read so many...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

That's reassuring to hear from someone who owns both amps, because from what I've read on TB, the hybrid 7pro comes highly recommended for its tube preamp. Re: pf350, the surprisingly high 8k frequency of the treble control caught my attention this morning and gave me pause for thought. I...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

Thanks for the input guys! If I'm counting right that's three more votes in favor of the pf-20t. I still find the versatility of the pf-50t more appealing overall, but I see that a pf-20t plus 210he cab just went up for sale in the classifieds... Another amp that caught my attention this...

Ampeg PF-500 with a vertically oriented SVT-112 AV

I'm thinking about a similar combo with one of the pf heads. Do the SVT-x-AV cabinets come pre-drilled to move the feet in order to stand the cab up on its side? Is it possible to reorient the Ampeg logo 90° or do you really have to order a new grill for vertical presentation?

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

I don't know if I'll ever get to where I'm playing with other musicians, but I would like to keep my options open. For example, my neighbor is a drummer, but we have a hard time coordinating our schedules. He'll soon be retiring from his day job, so maybe we'll find the time to get together. I...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

That's a fair question. And my first thought was that it is just as out-of-stock in North America as the pf-50t. But just to be sure I did a quick search and found one on Ebay at a very good price. Then I got distracted for a while by my family and that item has meanwhile been sold. If I...

Ampeg pf350 or pf-50t – pros and cons

I want to replace my current practice amp and I've narrowed it down to two Ampegs: the pf350 and the pf-50t, neither of which appear to be in stock locally. I've listened to all the demo videos I can find on YouTube, including the few posted by Ampeg, but in particular one by Ed Friedland for...
