Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Four)

Here in the Southern Hemisphere (Australia and NZ) the SB1000-CLB is a few hundred dollars more expensive than the SB1000MIJ. Also the MB-10E pickup is not a typo, here a pic of it again that I posted previously a while back. A comparison next to the MB10E.

Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Four)

These are more expensive than the new Japanese SB1000 so you"d expect it to be perfect out of the case (minus the scratches). I love that brass bridge and the gig bag they come with are impressive looking. Judging from the pics Ive seen they look reasonably padded and heavy duty?

Can anyone tell me what value pots are inside the SB Elite I, 500K or 250K? I cant find a wiring diagram online. My SBR60 component-wise is not much different from the Elite I and it has 250K pots.

Hi Asher, Im in NZ too, what colour SB did you get? I tried to pre-order one in Padouk Red but they only had 4 come into the country, two in Walnut and two in Oak. I dont think we will be seeing anymore here in NZ for a while. In fact these are first SBs I've seen in the country since the 80's.

The SB700 re-issue also seems to be a little chunkier at the heel of the neck on the bass side, pictured here in comparison with an SB1000. My least favourite feature of the new basses would be the headstock, they are not as elegantly shape and the "open book" motif is quite flat

I'm thinking that maybe the factory fastened the tuner slightly offset so they didnt have to drill into the walnut stringer? That is something I will have to do If I want to correct it. Im glad I hung on to it being a dedicated SB nut.

Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Four)

I'm sure its an anomaly Zuma, my tech/luthier inspected it and came to the conclusion the neck was cut slightly offset ( most probably by error) and visually it becomes more apparent at the end of the neck towards the headstock.

Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Four)

Guess what else the factory botched.. The neck stringers on my Indonesian SB700 re-issue dont run parallel in-line with the neck, the bridge sits a few millimeters away from where it should ( the photos tell the story). and finally the A tuner has been screwed in at the wrong angle! I did have...

Just done the tap test on the pickup while in series and both coils are of equal volume. Its weird your pickup in parallel plays the neck coil whereas mine selects the bridge coil. Think Im going to drop my bass into a technician and see if its wired up correctly!

Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Four)

My pickup functions differently from yours! In parallel mode only the bridge coil is working and the output is the same in both modes. As you can see I've had it shielded as the hum was something I could not tolerate.

Heres the under undercarriage of both the MB10E and the MB-1E. The MB-1E was purchased as a spare from Aria a couple of years back, so I assume its what they are still using for the SB1000 today. It matches my 2016 SB1000 RIB (MIJ).

Ive just ordered some magnetic viewing so I'll be able to answer that question ( @ Wargasm 7000) soon.

Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Four)

Aria The new SB700 neck profile is very similar to the slim Aria Elites and they are a little more ''chunky'' at the heel. Im not a fan of the new MB-10E pickups, they have a less pronounced mid-bump , not as articulate compared to the MB-1E and sound more Stingray. There is also only a subtle...
