The actual best mic we have found is a pro37 small diaphragm condenser, although an SM57 or Audix D4 does the trick as well.

Yes, I realize that there are different aftermarket preamps and stuff I could use. I have a art tube preamp that gets the job done as well, but we are looking to solve for simplicity.

Fret wear is reasonable, although they could use a polish. Truss rod turns well, i just had my bass guy (one of the original lakeland techs) spend a couple minutes with it to adjust the truss rod and bridge.
