Had the pleasure of meeting a great sound man and bass player in the wild last night at a gig in fawnskin. Name is Shane and he ownes one of the first ampegs scrolls with magnetic pickup..says it's a prototype with no serial number. Says he's been to your old shop in burbank.

I may want to sell my ampeg baby bass and get one of these in the future.... I won't travel with my baby bass but would like to play it at my blues gigs.

I understand...cost of living out of control in CA and probably everywhere.

This is cool....but I do miss the scroll bass building. :)

All my regular players are different scale, radius and stringspacing. Seems of little importance as compared to balance and weight Imho. I just have to spend a few hrs with it before a show.

What Bruce said. I have zero frets on 6 fretless basses and I love them.

Very important to me. Be friendly, approachable, interact with members and audience. Even humorous banter on mikes is fun with lead singer. If course this does not apply or orchestra settings.

It was a thing in the 80's and got offered a contract once from a win..we turned it down though...it was bad..they got 100% publishing and merchandising

Even though im mostly blind in 1 eye...I've always loved making eye contact with audience members. Stage lights sometimes blind me but i would never consider it. I usually print out set list in giant lettering with one word hints of next song and hide it in front of my pedal board. Hard to...

Some people pay extra for that kind of mojo. If the finish bugged me I would cover it with nail polish or leave as is and add my own battle scars over time....my 2 cents

Unpopular opinion...I solved this yrs ago by using chrome flats, leaving tone control wide open....and have never replaced stings on those basses since.

I would say the silence between notes. Also using the right hand to control volume, tone and accents.
