Noisy fan on ampeg micro vr

Oh, in case anyone cares: as outlined in my posts above, I'm running the amp into an SVT-210AV, and play in situations where I don't have to be very loud - it's a bunch of unamplified acoustic guitars, singers, and an occasional trumpet or fiddle. For what it's worth, I usually play a Mustang...

Noisy fan on ampeg micro vr

It's in this thread, above. (See post from August 16, 2024.) The way I did it was a little bit fussy, but not too bad, and reversible.

Noisy fan on ampeg micro vr

Hi folks, In case it's a useful data point, I've been using my modded amp for my (quiet) gig, once a week for many months now, and had zero problems.

Noisy fan on ampeg micro vr

For what it is worth, I of course considered buying the Noctua step-down converter NA-VC1 but it has a four-pin design, while the Ampeg board has three pins (only two of which are used by the stock Ampeg fan). So using it would have necessitated further work. (But then I discovered that the...

Noisy fan on ampeg micro vr

Makes sense. I was wondering if it might have something to do with 110 vs 220. I'm in the US.

Noisy fan on ampeg micro vr

This makes sense, thanks. I understand and am personally willing to accept the risk. Do you by chance have any idea why they would use a fan designated as "24 V" but feed it only 12 V?

Noisy fan on ampeg micro vr

I'm adding this note about my experience, hoping it might be of some use to others. I'm sure what I did voids my warranty, though it is pretty easily 100% reversible. Good luck out there! OK, the factory fan was obnoxiously loud. After studying this thread, disassembly, and testing a bit with...

Pickup upgrade for American Performer Mustang Bass?

Thanks for the replies, folks! Interesting! It crossed my mind to try something like this but it hadn't occurred to me that the hum from the bridge would stil come through when using both pickups. So I'd lose the hum-free aspect of the "both" setting if I gained hum-free on the "neck-only."...

Pickup upgrade for American Performer Mustang Bass?

Hi there folks, I stumbled on this thread because of my love/hate relationship with my American Performer Mustang. In short, I hate the hum I get when either pickup is soloed, but love most everything else about the bass. I don't claim to understand magnets, but I have a compass and some basses...
