The process is not complicated. It takes getting some supplies and a little time, but it’s pretty simple to do and you never have to use a screwdriver to get the door off again.

The Hipshot post fits the Sire holes, but new screw holes must be drilled. While the old ones do show, it doesn’t bother me. Plus, if I ever sell my U5, I can put the original tuners back on and they will cover the Hipshot screw holes.

Got mine from Pitbull Audio. It was perfect out of the box. I took it to a luthier for a pro setup and he said it didn’t hardly need a thing to be right on, including the electronics. it’s a drag anyone’s had a bad experience with a Sterling short scale but mine was good from the get-go.
