Good evening, ChrisAlan... Maybe some misconception here... The idea of more powerful amps, generally, is to have clean sound louder. Overdriven tubes have to be exactly that: overdriven, to get that sound. A low power amp will overdrive more easily than a high power. I have a Hiwatt DR203...

Couldn't let this thread die without a mention of the Hofner Verithin (the photo is not of mine...). Light on the shoulders, I use black nylon-wound stings. It packs a decent thump, but not for slappers...
