Help Identify these J Pickups please

Sorry didn’t reply but faster, but yes it was from those later years with the Fender Designed pickups… Actually kept them and swapped them recently into an 06 MIM. I found the MIM pickups hotter wound and although they sounded good at home they got muddy in live situations. 06 MIM Jazz was...

‘51 SD Stinger in CIJ ‘51 Reissue.

This makes sense! I guess the Duncan diagram is for series. Does anyone have a diagram for this pickup wired in Parallel? Thanks in Advance!

‘51 SD Stinger in CIJ ‘51 Reissue.

Did you change pot or cap value for the stinger? I wound up making a channel to run the thick pickup wire bundle at the bottom of the cavity and also shaved a little off the front pointy edge of the pickup fiber itself. Overall depth is sufficient.

‘51 SD Stinger in CIJ ‘51 Reissue.

Thank you fellas, seems like the buzz is only in my old house, haven’t had trouble with either pickup out at gigs yet. The Stinger pickup is very thick and cool, a cross between the familiar split coil P bass sound and the 50 style, but I must say definitely not the same as the original style...

‘51 SD Stinger in CIJ ‘51 Reissue.

Replaced the stock pickup in my 51 CIJ reissue because of a bad buzz - a buzz that would mostly go away when the treble was off - on the bass and/or amp. The Buzz was also lessened when touching metal or strings. Figured it was 60 cycle hum from the single coil, but the new pickup still buzzes...

SD stacked humbucker in a 51 pbass?

Does this pickup fit in the CIJ ‘51 Basses? Will it need shielding?

Fender Sting Signature P-Bass - One of the Best P-Bass Bargains!

I had one CIJ 51 a bunch of years ago but it was pretty abused, dead pick up- used an Antiquity II - loved the bass but the neck was bowed and the fretboard eventually cracked at the first fret like the truss was coming through. It was the taxi cab yellow and I painted it green:). Have been...

    Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

I made a video of the bass being played through a fender Princeton and with the RB112 - using the EHX humdebugger on both- wish I could upload it here. First of all the buzz when wide open is twice as brutal on the Ampeg. The humdebugger works well with the Princeton, but actually makes it...

    Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

I hear you guys but the bass works with little buzz on every other rig, even Fender guitar tube amps. Just doesn’t like this amp- my Split P, nor did the active noiseless EMG jazz buzz in the RB112. Just not the right amp for that bass.

    Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

Sorry just disappointed, should said it doesn’t match up well with this type of bass. But the whole thing is inexpensive isn’t it?

    Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

I am sure it would help, but it works with little buzz in other rigs, it’s a CIJ reissue. There’s also no directional sweet spot you can find like with usual 60 cycle hum. Even with hands on the strings, it buzzes, and it has something to with the treble in the amp- with the tone all the way...

    Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

I have had an RB112 for a couple months and basically been running a EMG active equipped Player Jazz bass through it at home. No problem. But recently I traded the bass for a long time dream bass, a ‘51 Pbass, and the the hum and hiss with this amp is crazy. Figured it was a combo of the 60...

EMG Geezer Butler tone cap change

I just did the mod this morning on my brand new Sonic- man these had some high output stock pickups- haven’t measured them but they clipped my amp good. Sonics are $179 right now, Jazz neck on P - light weight, nice strings- can’t go wrong really. Anyway I did not remove the stock cap - don’t...
