This has been really helpful, thanks guys. I will definatley check out the Jazz Technique book, and also work out those pentatonics and see what I come up with. Am I correct in thinking when I learn the major pentatonic scale, I can apply that shape of notes to any note on the fretboard?

Hi guys, I've recently being watching Off the Map by RHCP (yes, another Flea fan, cue yawns from around the world). I was amazed at the amoutn of notes Flea used in jams and he never hit a bum (out of tune) note. How does he know what to play? i've never learnt theory, I know shapes...

Hi guys, Over the past few gigs i've had an issue with my bass. Whenever I try to slap/pop when I slap the E string and pop the G, theres a really really loud popping noise over the PA. Various gigs now i've had to resort to playing finger style because of it. Is my pickup too high/strings...
