Who played bass on The Carpenters hits? -- A Tribute to Joe Osborn

I've met a few musicians here and I'm more optimistic about finding a gig that is a good fit for me. Met Duke Davis, an upright player that does Western swing and the like. Super nice guy, invited me to his gig and Lori and I had a great time. Duke says there is a lot of work here and he gave me...

Well, we sold our house in Shreveport and moved to the Texas hill country just outside of Fredericksburg. Me, Lori, our collection of junk, 8 cats and the dog all safe and sound. Glad it's overwith. The place is on a little country road with little traffic, It's a huge change from city life. The...

He did some of her stuff but it was way after "Ode to Billy Jo".. Glen Campbell Was involved with her and brought Joe in. I'm digging in to some other artists and Gentry is now on my list, thanks. Recently confirmed he is on Neil Diamonds Soolaimon...gets me jumpstarted in the morning...

Who played bass on The Carpenters hits? -- A Tribute to Joe Osborn

This song may not have been a good choice for them, kinda wondering how this happened. I know Joe O. would not have already heard it as he didn't listen to radio or anything, so his interpretation is interesting to me. Apart from that, it's too clean and sanitized to my ear.. they Should have...

Who played bass on The Carpenters hits? -- A Tribute to Joe Osborn

I accidentally found a Fifth dimension record of "Sunshine of your love" I had no clue this existed. It's on YouTube and if I knew how to post a link here I would. I'm not sure I could do it from my phone anyway. If anyone wants to put a link up for us , that would be great. It's a decent track...

Joe O. Is on Temptation Eyes, Wait a Million years and a lot of others. Joe did Sloans solo albums and that led to the Roots.

I listened to it and it does sound like him. I can't find any musician credits on it, may have been released as a single only. I'll have to dive into musicians union archives for the facts. A great resource but it's 45$ an hour with a three hour minimum. Thanks for posting it.

1964, Steve McQueen with president Johnsons daughter shaking their booty to Johnny rivers... And a very young Joe Osborn. Eddie Ruben, drums. I've never seen this before yesterday, a buddy posted it to FB..

The forward position is still plenty bright. I kinda thought it was going to be all thunder. It has more of that, but with a pick it still has punch and clarity. If I roll off some of the high end and blend it in just for thunder it works. When I get moved and unpacked I'll make a better pic...

Truer words were never spoken. They both had a protective streak a mile wide, I've seen it many times.

Hi Bob, I hope you are well. That bass is a home build. The body is fender , a 62 reissue and the neck is a fender R&D prototype. Way back when fender made a bass for Dad they sent two necks and I used the one he passed on. The pickups are Fralin as used in JO lakland, but the neck pickup is D...

Yeah, I think it's apparent that he was getting slightly annoyed. When he has more than one person giving him instructions he can get a little snippy...or a lot snippy. I heard about him throwing down headphones, which broke them... Bagged his bass and walked out. It was a 10:00 pm session...

Hey Bob, thanks for the vid. This is how I like to remember Dad. It's kinda funny but the newer autograph from Richard Carpenter is on the place where Janie Frickie was. Appears he sanded her off. There are some non original parts. The control plate, pots, pick guard and pickups are from his...

Hey Tom, The Christmas CD isn't available at the moment, but if you pm your address to me I'll get one to you. Everything but the dog is in a box, in an almost full storage facility. I kept out a couple copies of the Christmas CD in my suitcase , I didn't really know why till just now. Hope to...

That one is very similar to the cut on the Teammates CD, but it's not the same one. Dave O.
