Cort Bass with stuck truss rod / spoke wheel

Yes, I'll give that a try when the times come for adjustment. For now the neck is OK, fingers crossed it stays that way!

Cort Bass with stuck truss rod / spoke wheel

Wow, that neck it taking some stress there! Took bass back for a no quibbles return, shop agreed that truss rod is seized. They then offered to sell it back for 50% discount - as the neck relief is OK at the moment (0.40mm) I took them up on it, the hardware alone is worth that much if it...

Cort Bass with stuck truss rod / spoke wheel

I picked up a used Cort GB75 today as I want to try out a 5 string - she plays nicely and is in very good condition. After bringing it home I've discovered that the truss rod isn't moving - the spoke wheel has a small amount of free play but won't budge any further in either direction. I've...

Fender American II Pro Bass with bottomed out saddles - easy fix?

Good news - no up country drive required now as he's passed the guitar over to friend who lives a few towns across from me. I can view the guitar on a take or leave basis. Seller has confirmed that truss rod moves freely, fingers crossed it's a simple matter of neck relief but if not hopefully...

Fender American II Pro Bass with bottomed out saddles - easy fix?

Afternoon all I've bought Fender American II Pro online and am looking to collect in person. The seller appears to be genuine, we've spoken on the phone however he's on the otherside of the country which pretty much rules out demoing beforehand. It's a 2021 example in very good cosmetic...

Cort A4 Identification / advice sought...

Hey guys Spotted a nice looking Cort A4 at a local pawn shop today... Had a go and dead strings aside it plays nicely - reminds me a lot of Ibanez SR500 / 750 series but with a fatter neck. The treble EQ knob feels loose (easy fix?) but othen than that it is in nice shape. Price wise, it's up...

Loose speaker terminal on Vox Pathfinder amp... How to remedy?

That's a good idea, I know Loctite sell a super glue gel complete with an applicator brush... I'll need to take the speaker out to make a decent job of it, there's very little room to work with otherwise! In mean time, I've wedged a couple of thin strips of foam between the speaker basket and...

Loose speaker terminal on Vox Pathfinder amp... How to remedy?

This week I picked up a used Vox Pathfinder 10 watt bass amp - it's a neat a little thing and far more ideal for practice at home than my current Orange Crush 20b. Anything above an open A sounds fine, but lower notes make a small buzzing noise which has fast become annoying! After tightening...

Need to lessen relief on Vintage (JHS) V940B Bass - any ideas on truss rod size?

Thanks for the link by the way Matt - what a neat idea! I'll look into getting a couple of those the 5mm bullet style truss rod on the Hondo 830 is less than perfect also (although seems to be made of tougher metal in fairness).

Need to lessen relief on Vintage (JHS) V940B Bass - any ideas on truss rod size?

Like wise! It's been a decent beginner bass and has plenty more to give although the electronics let it down a little. Unplugged it sounds nice, but through my Orange 20w amp it sounds tubby and congested. The active EQ tone controls help to bring out the mids, but I find my new (old) Hondo...

Need to lessen relief on Vintage (JHS) V940B Bass - any ideas on truss rod size?

Cheers Matt - that's a good tip, I woudn't of thought of that! After some email back and forth, Vintage forwarded my query to their tech support who kindly confirmed that the head is indeed 4mm and likely rounded a little. With this in mind I've decided to give rotation a try with a 4mm key -...

Need to lessen relief on Vintage (JHS) V940B Bass - any ideas on truss rod size?

Thanks for the advice guys. That's my concern, I'd hate to damage an otherwise spotless guitar. Tried another 4mm key since posting but it has the same issue. I don't have any 4.5mm 3/16" keys, so a new set is on it's way from Amazon. They're the first I'll try when it arrives :)

Need to lessen relief on Vintage (JHS) V940B Bass - any ideas on truss rod size?

My Vintage V940B bass is a 2007 model which was bought as hardly used from original owner at Christmas time... It's been great to learn on, and after wearing out the strings I've replaced them with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (.050, .070, .085, .105). I figured these would an ideal substitue for...

    The OFFICIAL (kinda) HONDO THREAD!!

Cheers for starting this thread way back OP - I started learning bass guitar last year and have really enjoyed it so far... Found this in a local pawn shop last week and decided to give her a new home. HONDO Fame Series 830 - judging by the broadway style logo and lack of truss rod cover I...
