That Classic Vibe J bass looks alright on the website. Maybe a good option would be a Squier, and down the road I could replace the electronics using a split coil for the neck and keep the J style single coil near the bridge?

Yeah, the BTBs look like the most likely result of this thread, but if the MK-2 pickups can't get do the trick, I'm going to look into maybe EMG 45DC or try to get my hands on some used Q-Tuners BL6s. They look fascinating.

Thanks. I think I will only grab the BDDI for now, and if I feel I need more versatility, or an amp for something other than recording, I'll invest more into the RH450 then.

Basically, I'm asking whether it would sound better for DI recording to go straight into the interface through the SansAmp BDDI, or whether I should take the SansAmp into the RH450 preamp, and then into my recording interface.
