He is just saying our contemporary audience does not value artists like Hendrix. I guess if you´re thinking of mainstream he is right, just think of what is mainstream today.... But I´m sure he would have many fans today.

Many classical guitars have that same "Moustache" element in the headstock, maybe Gibpoopie is calling for a storm on themselves.

I know its an old post but if you still have that issue you could measure the output voltage on the bass when it makes the amp clip. Then check if that voltage is within the manufacturer input voltage tolerance. Maybe you have a preamp with too much output and maybe there is a pot to regulate...
