If there’s a secret to opening the battery compartment please let me know. I got this one a year ago and will need to replace the battery soon. Love the bass with the small exception of the battery compartment

I’m an outlier I guess , as Ken has been great with me and I love my CR4M bass. Bolt on neck , sustain for days , and weighs much less than my Alembics. I had some harmonic dissonance when I first bought my bass - Ken reached out and told me how to adjust it to eliminate it ( and it worked )...

There’s a recent video by Scotts Bass Lessons where they interview John Buttons ( I may have the spelling wrong ) - the current bass player in the Who , and he goes into a lot of detail in terms of how to strike the strings , tone and effect settings, etc. that he uses to sound like Entwistle.

That looks fantastic! I ended up picking up the Feraud bass that was at NAMM 2020. Haven’t had too much time to play it yet though. Quick question- what’s the secret with opening the battery compartment? The one in mine is really tight , doesn’t feel like I can open it by my hands alone

I’ve tried a few ( Fodera etc. ) but certainly not all. The ones I’ve kept though are the ones that fit my style the best: Alembic Jaydee Conklin

I don’t believe that he did the “traditional “ Larry Graham style slap and pop technique. In his instructional video he explains that he does the same sound using his “typewriter “ technique ( tapping with each finger “assigned” to an individual string ) .

One additional thing that I forgot - if you want that Entwistle attack tone you may want to pick up a Tech 21 sansamp bass driver di. Both John and Geddy Lee ( among others ) used one as a key part of their tone

Ryan Martinie, especially in Soften The Glare, has an Entwistle-Esque method of tapping on the strings ( instead of using a thumb ) similar to what John did. While he doesn’t sound exactly like Entwistle, if you check out the video for “Turn Around” you’ll see some similarities in playing style.
