"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Yeah, the intonation on both mine were painfully off when I got them. Got it right on the higher two (the G saddle still buzzes on my 4-string unless I push on it; a bad set screw), just into correct on the A--and E on the 5-string--and the lowest is still a hair off. I'll have to clip the...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

For what it's worth, my orange one does seem to have an ever-so-slight difference in tone to my 5-string. A hair warmer, more hollow sounding with my ear against it, and rounded a hair more toward the low end. Not sure which wood would cause it. Then again, that's slight enough it's more likely...

That's how I got mine. No idea why, but I fell in love with that orange.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I may have to try that Jackson, and personalize it a bit. Half my jams sessions include something from Anamanaguchi, which use a Nintendo as a lead instrument. So an instrument that is basically concentrated 90's wouldn't be that bad. Plus I'd have a reason to finish the fuzz and bitcrush pedals...

I'm happy with the knobs I have on my 5-string, like Greenstreet's but with a dimple on them. Not even sure where I found them, but I've got a project guitar that had clear Les Paul-style knobs with black numbers. I just painted the underside. Green, in this case, to match the green burst it'll...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Yeah, it's weird. I mean, it's ugly... But I still sorta like it. Jacksons always just seem like they belong in 80's metal, and nothing else.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Well, then. I might actually consider grabbing one of those Jacksons once the first sale or round of used ones hits the for-sale sections. I wouldn't feel so bad about playing with the electronic and making an art project of it to match the gang's retro bits. Then again, I'm an idiot sucker for...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Dude, ***. Don't get me wrong, that's awesome to see something unusual, it's just... exactly that! Not a pure traditionalist here; my bass has been limited to mostly covers with friends and my actual music is chip-influenced electronic stuff. But now maybe I'll have to do a little reading and...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

From a machinist's point, not an experienced (or talented) bassist's: Bronze should resonate more than aluminum. In one part on a string instrument, it may affect the tone a little but I'd bet money you could do more with an adjustment at the controls. The spacing on my fiver is 2.514", measured...

That's how I got my orange mikro, too. Unless they make one in a matching metallic neon green, this is my color. And yeah, that's exactly the reason I love my short-scales. I don't have big hands or strong fingers--especially after breaking both elbows--and the Mikro just wants to be played easy.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Really considering putting some flats or even tapewounds on my 4-string now. I play exclusively with a pick, so might balance that out a little. Or, you know, actually learning to play with my fingers. But heck with that, I just call it a style.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Yeah, looking forward to seeing what happens with the stripped one! Makes me miss my garage. Got to sit a jam a bit on my new one: consistent annoying buzz when fretted anywhere. Truss adjustment isn't enough without raising the action absurdly high. Time for a shim.

Also another congrats from me. That's actually going in a playlist. That piece on the left could be nicer, but that's actually pretty decent. Seen a few from other popular brands that cost a lot more that aren't that nice. Hope to see that turns out when it's done!

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Hey, long as I have some confirmation it's going to work well. And yeah, I have a pile of picks from when I played rhythm guitar, or my current out-of-practice plinking about. My favorites for my bass are my Dunlop 2mm Gator Grips and Big Stubbies. Great things, a little bright and 'attacky' if...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Holy crap, been forever since I checked in... Not an active guy here. Just picked up my second Mikro. A GSRM20 in hot-rod orange, for when the extra string on my GSRM25 is just in the way. And because I can't find strings for that one. Noticed that the pickups seem off center, too. The poles are...
