    Buying a first compressor

Ok, finally I chose the MXR because currently there's no official Aguilar distributor in my country, so if I want to buy Aguilar TLC I'd have to bring it from abroad and I don't want that. Secondly, I decided that at the beginning of my adventure with compressors, a gain reduction meter will be...

    Buying a first compressor

As I see MB has very positive reviews. I'm fine with it's size, but one of the downsides for me is it's high power consumption. Apart from that in one of reviews I came across the opinion that it slightly cuts the highest tones. Can you confirm that? I use Ashdown ABM 414T cabinet with tweeter...

    Buying a first compressor

Hey, from what I have found out, the threshold in Duncan compressor is as if combined with a ratio (compression). I don't know if I like such a solution. Perhaps at the beginning it would be easier for me to set the sound I like, but in the future I think I'd like to be able to set these two...

    Buying a first compressor

Hello. Again. I'm sorry, but I have to tire you a little more ;) After consideration I decided not to buy a BOSS because I would like to have control over the timing of the attack. Almost decided to the MXR m87, but in the meantime I came across an Aguilar TLC demo (unfortunately it's not in...

    Buying a first compressor

Hey, I guess I chose two models, but I can't decide which one to buy. These are the MXR M87 and BOSS BC-1X. Perhaps those of you who played those two could tell me something else about them that would help me make a decision? The BOSS is dual-band and the MXR single-band. Which of them do you...

    Buying a first compressor

This one is available but I'd prefer to have more parameters to set.

    Buying a first compressor

I'm concern about difference in tone between low and high strings. So as You said compressor won't help in this matter. But there's still the (main) question, which compressor to choose to balance volume with playing fingers, pick or slapping. I can see that most of you recommend Empress, but...

    Buying a first compressor

Thank you very much for the feedback and advices. As you mentioned I'll try to adjusting the pick-up height. I was doing that some time ago, but maybe I should experiment with it a bit more. As for the compressor I'll think about the Empress but unfortunately it's not available in any store in...

    Buying a first compressor

Hello everyone. I'm going to buy my first bass compressor. My budget is around $ 220. I mostly play pop, disco, funk. The main reason why I want to buy compressor is to equalize (I don't know if I use correct word) volume when I play with fingers, pick or slapping. But there is also one thing...

    Differently sounding strings

Sorry for the late response. Unamplified it sounds different too (at least G string), but yesterday I checked on the internet what is that "witness points" because I never heard about it and then I did what the man it this article suggested: String Seating and Witness Points — Haze Guitars It...

    Differently sounding strings

Thanks for your answer. Maybe you're right, but as for the G string I hear that very sharp sound even without connecting to the amp. So if I switched pickups and preamp, would they improve the sound of that string heard from the amplifier? Or it maybe not just a electronics problem. What you think?

    Differently sounding strings

Can you give me some another advices what can I do to fix it?

    Differently sounding strings

On one site I found information that the standard distance of the string (pressed on the last fret) and the pickup should be 2-3 mm and on the other site that 3-5 mm, so I decided to set the distance to 3mm (so I lowered it a bit), but the sound is not changed.

    Differently sounding strings

Hello everyone. This is my first post on this forum so I wanted to say Hello ;) and I apologize in advance for my english ;) I have a problem with sound of my Ibanez SR605: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] My problem is that almost every string in that guitar sounds a bit different...
