can the sandberg florence compete with a precision?

Not if the mass produced one produces the sound you want

How has your taste in music changed with age?

These last number of years, I’ve been listening more and more to popular music from before I was born. I was big on the 50s (across various genres) for many years, but now I’ve been mostly going pre-1950s. I’ve had heavy classical and jazz phases. Bluegrass, a touch of old country. Lots and...

    BEGINNER BASSIST

Really only need a tuner to get started. A metronome, though you can use your phone for that. Prolly some overdrive would be good. Expand from there as/if desired. The BeatBuddy mini like BarfanyShart mentioned above wouldn’t be a bad idea. I don’t love mine, but it’s better than having to...

    SG & EB Bass Club

I had to look that up. Pretty cool (and good eye on your part!). For those not familiar, the first photo of this guy’s bass in the following thread shows the finish well. I don’t know that I’m seeing any rainbows, but it’s definitely a white sparkle :) https://www.talkbass.com/threads/nbd.1615332/

Favorite P Bass With Flats Recordings?

The guy sporting the orange LES (Launch and Entry Suit) gives new meaning to the suit’s nickname, "the Pumpkin suit", lol. Meanwhile, that is a drivin bass track. Good call

Fret size, what is the illure to jumbo frets?

I like "medium jumbos". Hard to say why, but that’s what I got used to. That said, I have an MIJ bass and a vintage Tele guitar with narrow frets, and they both work well enough. But medium jumbo feels like "home" to me

Would you gig with a TRBX174

Re: "Would you gig with a TRBX174?" Yeah, sure. Assuming it was set up to my liking and could stay in tune and didn’t have any other [non-cosmetic] issues (ex., crackling or intermittent electronics), why not

    Squier Tele mod to P-Bass

Do what you want of course, but just to confuse the issue now, I’ll add that I liked your original plan, lol. A P is a simple bass that just sounds right. No need for the visual clutter of a second pickup, especially one about which you yourself wrote, "I've come to the conclusion nothing will...

    In praise of the mini-humbucker

I like the sound of the mini-hum in my SG bass, but I think it’s a different design than the ones used in the old EB-3s? (not sure). After eventually became disatisfied with my SG bass’s stock neck pickup, I tried switching to the bridge as it almost does it for me, but there’s just not enough...

2 Bands: One With Live Bass, and One Without

You just need a singer (preferably in underwear only), dancers dressed like phalluses or some such, and then for the "rock number", have a guitarist wearing a Les Paul come out and riff power chords while posing leaning back to back with the singer, both bobbing their heads some while making...

    Rig or room…

As far as hearing live, the room makes a considerable difference. As far as a recording, as Wasnex said, depends how much of the room sound you record. Meanwhile — recording at Abbey Road, wow

TC Electronic Polytune Clip — is this counterfeit or not?

One important question is, does it work as advertised. It would be good to alert TC Electronic if they are being ripped off, but if it works, might as well keep it. I mean, it seems from what you wrote that it was manufactured in the same facility as actual TC Electronic products. Might be the...
