    New bass rig

I'm really happy with my Fuchs. I played only Walter Woods for decades. The solid state sounds comparable - slightly different but not in a bad way. I wish they made a two channel though - I sometimes double, and last night I wound up taking my woods just because I needed two channels.

Double Bass I want to move from a Walter Woods blue light to either a Berg Forte or Fuchs Solid State. l

For my double bass with a Full Circle pickup, the FBS is fantastic. It's as close to "my bass only louder" as I've heard amongst the modern amps I've tried. I've also used it with my electric upright (NS CRM-5) and it's great with that as well. I'm a huge fan and am happy I don't have to think...

Double Bass Woods, AI, and Quad Cortex, oh my!

Just tying up threads that I opened a while back. I love my FBS 700 and am happy leaving my Woods at home as a sentimental nod to four decades of my lifel I also have been using my Quad Cortex a lot, especially when I know I have to use some random amp at a venue or studio.

    Quad Cortex - Neural DSP

Wow, I came back to this thread to check in on how peeps were liking the OC-2 model. This was perfect. I listened to the YT vid with headphones. It definitely sounds solid with no tracking problems I could detect. The parts are very "whole note-y." How does it track for faster passages and...

Double Bass I want to move from a Walter Woods blue light to either a Berg Forte or Fuchs Solid State. l

TL;DR: I firmly believe Fuchs is the successor to Walter. Great amp; great service (like Walter during the heyday). Yes I did decide. The FBS-700 is now my primary amp. I tried Berg and Trickfish and the Fuchs was absolutely my sound. Sonically it's close enough to a Woods and it does a...

    Neural Quad Cortex Capture Thread

I uploaded my Walter Woods capture a few months ago. https://cloud.neuraldsp.com/cloud/profile/neural-capture/neural-capture/view/d9b14f88-0b1e-4cf8-b79b-1c1c6387393a

    Quad Cortex - Neural DSP

TL;DR: Neural captures have get generic gain/b/m/t/vol that aren't related to the captured amp's tone controls. I usually just stick a parametric EQ block into the preset to get tone shaping that is more faithful to the underlying amp . --- When you do a neural capture, whatever you had your...

    Quad Cortex - Neural DSP

The current QC octaver is OK but yes, not as good as I remember my OC2 being. Last month NDSP announced that the 3.1.0 update will contain both an OC2 and Meatball. https://neuraldsp.com/quad-cortex-updates/quad-cortex-development-update-52 The page is silent as to when it will be released...

    Quad Cortex - Neural DSP

The difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference; in practice there is. The routing options are in fact really flexible - even moreso if you are in a position to take advantage of the 8 USB audio inputs and outputs. That stated, the routing is stored with...

    Quad Cortex - Neural DSP

I’ve done several captures using the 1/4” line out of an amp (either send or DI out) and plugged it directly into the input 2 combo jack. You can even tweak the input impedance and gain on both input 1 and 2

The QC comes with several neural captures of Darkglass devices. Here’s the list. Quad Cortex device list

    Quad Cortex - Neural DSP

Earlier this summer, I began doing captures. I did a capture of my Walter Woods that I use as my default amp sim. I uploaded it to Cortex Cloud on the chance that anyone else would be interested. You can download it from here. I've been using it with both my upright and electric and am...

    Quad Cortex - Neural DSP

If you can go for it and not put your lifestyle in jeopardy, yes, I'd suggest going for it. If you don't love it, you can sell it on Reverb (or if it's within the return window, just return it). If you do love it, then you can ditch everything else. Although based on this thread and other...

    Mourning

I became active again at 60. At 62, I'm in four groups and am starting to have to juggle music commitments. Once I went on hiatus from my day job, opportunities just came. My 15 year old self can't believe this is where I'm at.
