Thanks guys. I will explore these options. I did tap the wood but didn't do the ca glue. I think the set screw I was using might be too fine of a thread too.

I started making my own knobs but I'm having a hard time securing them to the pot. The hex screw I had lying around stripped out the wood and I'm thinking I should just do a threaded insert instead for the set screws. Anybody have a source for these?

I have EMG 40P and 40J with a BQC in my 38" scale bass and it's pretty nice. I had bartolini DC's in it before but they were too dark sounding. I play in a thrash band. It also sounds good with about any kind of music not just metal.

Okay I think I'll just stick with the x ultra then. The high and low roll-offs can't be beat in my opinion.

Has anybody done a comparison of the X Ultra with the photon? I've got the X Ultra on my board but I would really like to just go down to one thing especially if it has a decent enough tuner.

I just had an idea about making my blend knob something that has a smaller range of motion so I can more easily dial it in visually. Is this even possible? Just FYI it's a 25k EMG blend pot right now. I was thinking 45 degrees would be cool and maybe a little harder to turn might be helpful too.
