Thank you…I learned, most importantly, that Anthony Wellington is a really great guy! He has many interests and is an avid student of the bass himself. He spends an enormous time breaking down theory, musicianship and the bass into very logical chunks.

I am resurrecting this thread because I am the new owner of this mystery bass. It turns out that the seller was a very nice man who simply did not remember exactly what happened to his bass in the late 70s. After inspecting the bass myself, I think I solved the mystery.
