What do you consider the most important thing after bass / Amp

A good "EAR". 1: Useful for listening to music..especially other bass players. Live or on record. 2: Also good for hearing YOUR own playing. 3: Also good to have to listen to good advice. 4: lastly, ear plugs so you can take care of them. You only get two, and that's it. They are the main thing...

What do you consider the most important thing after bass / Amp

It's actually "Gary" but his mom has an accent and his friends picked up on it so people call him "Geddy".

What do you consider the most important thing after bass / Amp

Actually, A good DI box. I've used a "SansAmp" bass driver live and in the studio which dials in lots of color like distortion and EQ (my best friend is the bass player for Queensryche and he uses a Sansamp live) but he gave me a couple of these "Hartke" bass attack DI's and i loooove then. Dean Markley Blue Steel ML

I'm kind of lucky in this department. My best friend is the bass player for a veteran metal band and he gives me a box of DR's whenever I'm in need cuz he has endorsements. They are the "High Beam" stainless/roundcore style. I really like them. (Especially the price). DR's are made in New Jersey.

What are you actually practising after x years?

I only practice songs we write. Sometimes I'll hear an old song on the radio and make myself happy by learning it. Otherwise, I'm not playing with Steve Via or recording with Jaco... If playing an instrument is your paycheck or your living, then yes, practice everything (as you would anyway)...

Did I get older or did my amp get heavier?

31 lbs for the amp.70.5 lbs for the 4x10" and 61 lbs for the 1x15" . I just sold an "Energy Group" 1x15" cab with a McCauley In it. That thing must have weighed 60 lbs as well but it had a HUGE magnet and sounded sooo good.

Did I get older or did my amp get heavier?

I'm 57 now and still playing heavy, rockin originals. The cabs aren't that bad, I have those rolling flats from Home Depot for about $12. It's the damn amp that weighs so much! And it's awkward to carry. So I always get a friend to help carry it. No sense in breaking my back before I play.

    Underappreciated Bassists in famous bands

I completely agree. DD was very melodic. Just listen to "Killers" or "Billion Dollar Babies"! Also, Craig McGregor from Foghat. That guy rocked "Night Shift"!!!
