Same. Have LA-1A, Empress CB and Alma Mk II. The Alma is the one I use most - no bad sounds in it - works well with my active Sadowsky NYC 5 string jazz bass, and my passive J bass (Bacchus).

For this who are interested - it seems that I was hitting the front of the compressor to hard. I was using the PC-2A at the end of chain, and must have too much gain added. Moving the compressor upfront to after a tuner/ buffer and it worked fine.

I don't think I'm hitting the compressor particularly hard. The folks at Effectrode have reached out pretty quickly to help, so I'm currently troubleshooting with them. Will report back once we get to the bottom of this.

I had a pair of ATH M40x but got rid of them - I have big flappy ears and they were not comfortable past an hour or so of wear. I’ve since moved to Neyer Dunamic DT 770 Pro 80 ohm. I use these for home practice, live sound engineering and YouTubing.

I’m happy with the stomps pitch shift live (church context) at half step and whole step down. I just added the simple pitch shift block to the front of the IMA Sig preset. I can hear an effect on tone in my ears, but haven’t had complaints from the MD of FOH.

I don’t use it for private practice at home, so can’t really comment. I practice using my pedal board and headphones.
