    Flats on a headless?

I've got D'Addario chrome flats on my Ibanez EHB, I've swapped back and forth with some rounds and other than having to be careful with the clamping tension they seem fine.

How has your taste in music changed with age?

When I was young I really loved anything fast and loud, but love playing jazz. Now I split my time between playing loud and fast music with other people and classical guitar standards by myself with hardly a care for jazz. Could also be that as I aged I had fewer and fewer options to really...

Should I sell a perfectly good p bass

I sold a nice Japanese P-bass earlier this year. Nothing wrong with it, it felt and sounded great, balanced okay, but I just never played it. I'll probably never sell my first bass for sentimental reasons (fortunately it still sounds and plays great), but everything past bass #1 is fair game...

    Programmable Parametric EQ pedal??

If you're willing to go way out of the norm a pedal like the piStomp can be used for this, you can chain as many EQs as you want (to the RAM and CPU limit of the device) and set the frequency, midpoint, and q for each. It's more expensive than an EQ2, and a lot more difficult to get things all...

pi-Stomp v3 Kit: DIY multi-effect base on open source software

Looks pretty interesting. I've been using the newest Pi Stomp firmware and have given a few NAM A2 models a try for my guitar and they're really good so far. The bass side hasn't caught up yet, but I'm looking forward to updating some of my patches once models start rolling out.

Thinking about going to a nylon string guitar

I can help a little on that since I cross shopped them before getting the FRH when the new model came out with the better preamp. They're identical other than the colors and the electronics, so it just comes down to which one looks and sounds nicer to you, they feel like the same instrument...

Kiesel Antares Bass. They did it!

Lots of red flags on this one, poor copy with significant errors (headless?) and a removable weight to deal with neck dive which means the weight and balance is going to be all over the place between individual instruments. Hard pass from me.

Thinking about going to a nylon string guitar

Makes sense, the FRH10 I had was definitely a comfortable and easy to play classical, and if the play-ability works for you they do sound nice as long as you get the newer models (or the Tim Henson sig model) that has the adjustable preamp and built in tuner since the first gen didn't even have...

Thinking about going to a nylon string guitar

I've got a classical I play quite a bit (Cordoba C5, entryish level but quite nice) and have played the Ibanez FRH thinline and ended up selling the Ibanez because frankly it just doesn't sound as good as the Cordoba while being more uncomfortable to play than my Sterling Cutlass electric, so it...

Oh Guitar Center, will you ever learn?

I gotta say, literally everything else aside, I really like the color.

How many of your basses are 100% ready-to-go? None of mine ever are :-P

I have 3 basses, 2 are ready to go, one needs a new jack but I don't gig it so as long as I don't move much while playing it works crackle free. So like 2.5 ready right now?

Something shady going on, or should I get my tinfoil hat?

This sounds like a case of something happened, so they devised a policy to deal with it (get the vehicle records to prove it's you) and then because it's disconnected from the other agency the costs are never addressed, so one side raises costs over time and the other continues on with "well...

    Shark fin picks?

I have one that I probably got in a multipack 20ish year ago and it's fine. The shape is nice if you have to constantly switch between pick and fingers and want to tuck in into your pinky or something real quick, but I never got the utility of the multiple edges. There are a few songs I play...

The latest take on pedals vs. modelers, according to a Reverb guy…

A lot of the "empty" rack equipment in those days was also due to the fact that the rack was the form factor, so even if you didn't need the space provided there was a good chance that the people buying your equipment already had a rack, so you built for that.

The latest take on pedals vs. modelers, according to a Reverb guy…

I don't see why it needs to be either/or, my board has a modeller and individual pedals and that's how I like it. Got a NAM loader, lots of modulation options, and infinitely adjustable parallel EQ settings on the modeller, and my favorite compression and drive pedals as stompboxes + an older...
