700 RB-II. The 1000 watts are simply too much ... in all practical environments you will be playing just half a notch above "idle", which does your tone no good. Downsizing the amp puts you closer to the "sweet spot" as the amp has to work a bit harder...

Hmmm... If you want a "tightened up P tone" why not just get a J? The loose depth of the P is the whole point of a P...

I had a Duncan SCPB1 in my home made "flame maple top '53" at first, but it seemed very uneven to me - I hated it. Switched it out for a SCPB3 - the quarter pounder - and it is wonderful. I highly recommend it!
