    Kemper profiler beckons

I'm a guitarist who just bought his first bass (German made Warwick Streamer). I love bass. Now for a rig. I'm seriously considering a Kemper & FRFR speaker. Great for recording, playing at home & consistently reproducing tones. However something tells me this rig will never give me the thick...

    My first bass rig

That's what scares me. I've been through a lot of heartache (and $) getting guitar tube amps working consistently and properly.

Yes, I can switch the JMP outputs to 4 Ohms with a little rotary dial (it has 2 outputs). I also still have the Dual Recto which has 2x 4 Ohm outputs.

    My first bass rig

Thanks everyone. I tried a few amps at the shop recently. All Ampeg. Portaflex 50W, SVT V4B & SVT-7PRO. Also used Neodymium 2x10, Heritage 4x10, SVT 8x10 & SVT 6x10. The thing that really stood out to me was that the all tube heads sounded much nicer. There go my plans of not getting another...

    My first bass rig

Yes, I noticed the big power difference & wondered about it. I'm seeing that in general heads with tube power sections have much lower power than SS powered heads in general. I guess you can get 500W all tube heads but probably cost a fortune?

    My first bass rig

Thanks, just saw this comparison between AD200 & TB500 and to my ears the AD was significantly better, but a heap more $. I've got a long way to go :)

    My first bass rig

After many years on guitar I'm making switch to bass. Picked up a Warwick LX Streamer for a good price. I've got absolutely no idea about bass amps and cabs. I've been through a lot of pain, time & money (I'm not rich but I save for a quality product) refining my guitar rig. Note I'm in...

    New Empress Para EQ

Thanks, I'm not a big pedal person and didn't want to have to go out and but an expensive power supply just to run the thing. However I play 6 string electric as well and will run that signal through the ParaEQ. Could I assume that the same applies, 9V 100mA will be enough?

    New Empress Para EQ

I have one on the way. How should I power this? The [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (see page 14) details how it can run off 9V - 24V supplies and draws 100mA OR MORE(??). The manual talks about greater headroom at higher voltage supplies. It does state it runs OK off 9V 100mA, but does...
