I couldn’t agree more. The Epiphone Viola is always slapped with the “it’s only good for The Beatles” or the “it’s not as versatile as a Fender”. Fenders are great but that is not an excuse to dismiss this bass. It can nail the Beatles tone (well, get close to it) and it can be groovy as hell...

I've been looking for an affordable violin bass and these two are the best options that I found. Can some bassists give me some pros and cons of each bass and perhaps which one you would prefer?

A solution to that I think is to replace the Epi's tailpiece with a Hofner's tailpiece, that way the scale length changes and you can use your lovely LaBella flats.

I heard that it’s more versatile with roundwounds, plus, I think you have to use medium-scale strings for this bass because the tailpiece isn’t as long as the Hofner’s tailpiece or something.
