Can always take the scratch plate off. The pickup cavity is perfectly routed. Just leaves a few screw holes. I personally love the scratch plate!Mine has a mahogany body instead of ash so is lighter and has a different growl about it.

I really do like my sbcb, the only gripe is the lack of treble in the rotary switch on the lower settings. But I use the varitone with distortion and bypass the circuit for clean tones. Imo it looks better as a black n gold clone, just wish I could find a 3pdt mini toggle switch in black! But...

I use dr ddt 110's for drop c tuning on a musicman stingray 4. They work fine, sound great and stay in tune well. Had no problems with breakages, if there's an issue with playing fast I blame myself,not the string. I change strings regularly before every show so I've had no dramas with string...
