Amp is reassembled with new mosfets. I used it at practice last night, performed as fine as it ever did. I'm happy to close the book on this repair. I'd like to extend a big thank-you to everyone who posted helpful advice, whether in the form of a specific suggestion or general knowledge. You...

sorry for the lack of updates recently, gang - real life obligations have encroached on my tinkering time lately. The bridge rectifier passed a more rigorous round of testing, so it has an alibi for now. I went ahead and pulled the output mosfets and transistors to test them - both mosfets are...

beans-on-toast, I did a quick re-check of the 40V rails and the 16V across the zener diodes and confirmed my recollection from last night - nowhere close to what it should be. Starting to look more and more like the bridge rectifier is the culprit.

I was hoping someone might have the numbers for easy reference and would save me the trouble of dusting off my old circuits textbook to refresh on the relevant math. My worst fear is that the people who have the numbers prefer to preach at me about how I should calculate it myself. And I've...

Thanks beans-on-toast, I have a bunch of fuses on the way so I"ll have plenty to play with. They are indeed the prescribed 2.5A rating. The line voltage at the transformer primary checked out, as did the ground at J22. I was not able to verify the 40V rails or the 16V across the diodes, probably...

Thanks for your suggestion, lowplaces. I saw those threads as well in my initial reading. I did not note any oxidation or discoloration of the headphone jack contacts, so I have not tested it more deeply for the time being. I checked the speaker for a short or open circuit condition, everything...

This is what I have. As it was originally purchased years ago, I expect it is the earliest version they made. Ampeg: Bass Amp Original Series - BA115 If anyone wants to provide any specifics on how I can further verify the version, I'm happy to oblige. Otherwise I plan to continue testing...

Here is a quick update for those of you who are anxiously waiting by your computers for the conclusion of this thrilling saga: Testing proceeds well. Thanks for the info, agedhorse. It's refreshing to see someone actually answer the question I asked! Paul, if that's all you have to say, and you're going to just keep repeating it like a broken record, I'm going to ask you to make your exit from this conversation. Your contributions have been...

Thanks for weighing in, Rich and Roland. As explicitly stated previously: I am not looking for someone to DIAGNOSE the problem for me. I am looking for known common failure points of this amp so as to find and correct the issue faster. Thankfully a couple of more helpful posters above have...
