Im not sure this is the case everywhere but I can tell you in NYC & L.I., the large chain stores, GC, Sam Ash, etc take the guitars out of the box from the factory and put them right onto the sales floor. A smaller specialty store like Matt Umanov Guitars in NYC sets up each guitar before it...

Gecko, I am amazed at your devotion. I have a strong connection to JJ which was formed from a bond I had with my brother who passed away in 1996. He was a pro bass player. Maybe one day we can chat. There arent many people who would get it.
