could you clarify that please? i know at a couple of times, JT was replaced. when was this? on oct 6, 1982 john put his hand through a plate glass window and they had to cancel some shows and did some sync tv dates in portugal with a stand in bassist. but i don't believe any actual live dates...

i finally found my dream bass after looking for over 30 years! an ARIA PRO II. being a lefty made it a hell of a task. this one is an SB-r60 which is like a passive SB-1000.

check out this old pre CHIC video. at 2:15 you can see bernard switch to chucking and then right back to fingers! i can't imagine how many hours of playing he would have had, even at that time in 1976. so good!!

'nard was a monster. if you watch a video of him playing, you can see him effortlessly switch between styles. in EVERYBODY DANCE, which is the song most famous for the 'chucking' technique, he switches between the thumb/finger DIY pick style ( ) and trad finger style with ease!

the part that gets me is when he tells the crowd he has 'the tokyo flu' :-(

bernard passed 19 years ago today. i think everyone here should pick up their bass and show some love for the great man on this day! crank out GOOD TIMES, LE FREAK or one of the many massive lines 'nard gave us. play with your heart and play like it might be your last time...like bernard...
