I would suggest having a look at the Squier VM or CV range and then looking for a used ATK. You won't regret buying the Squier and the ATK's tend to go pretty cheap used.

You can use normal 4 string bass strings for the first 4 strings, then the corresponding string guage for the next two. Just wondering why? will you use the b and e strings that often?
