One Amazing bass + amp OR Several good basses + amps ?

I'm in the one great bass with one great amp camp, but through experience, you're going to need at least TWO great basses and TWO great amps. Well, at least one decent backup bass and a decent backup amp. I've had both basses and amps give me problems on stage, and you need to have something on...

    4 Years For Chromes?

My chromes have been on my Jazz bass for about 4 or 5 years with hundreds of gigs and they sound awesome. I did clean them with rubbing alcohol a few weeks ago after I noticed the amount of grime on them and it ended up bringing a lot of the brightness back, but they still sound nice and broken...

    Flatwounds Help

I’ve had light chromes on my jazz bass for about 4 or 5 years now and they still sound great. I don’t think I had to do much setup wise when I switched from rounds.

Talk me out of (or into) buying a combo amp.

I did the Markbass CMD 121 combo with the NY121 extension cab for a while. Loved the sound and versatility but it had reliability issues. After going through two different CMD 121 combos that would cut out on me mid gig without warning, I had to wright off using markbass amps. I did get a second...

    212 Cab Suggestions

Negative, I ended up going to cost effective route and getting a 2nd markbass 112 cab used. I'm very happy with the 212 markbass with the mesa head

What did you do with your "beginner" bass?

I held onto my 1st bass for a while until I noticed my friend’s son, 12 years old at the time, was gaining interest in playing music. He was playing tuba or something in his school’s marching band, and I could tell he was more interested in the music itself more than the instrument he was...

2008 - 2015 Fender Tony Franklin, Fretted Precision, yes, fretted

I found a Tony Franklin “fretted” body locally a few years ago. I threw a MIA P neck on it and I quickly became my #1 bass. And I don’t have anywhere near 2k invested in it.

Do You Use Pedals Or Not?

Fits in my gig bag, or I probably wouldn’t bring it to gigs. None of it is really “necessary” for my band, but it’s fun to turn sometimes during Pink Floyd like tunes or when we get into funky jams, only gets used (other than the tuner) about 5% of the time. Also, this is an old pic, the OC-3...

    212 Cab Suggestions

Whelp, I just left Guitar Center with an order placed for a new Mesa D-800, it should be here Friday. Still Stuck between the Genzler NC 212T and the GK NEO IV 212. I do have a backup setup, a Fender Rumble 210 combo with the 210 extension cab, so I'll get by until my final decision.

I appreciate your input. I’m definitely going to give the NC-212T serious consideration.

    212 Cab Suggestions

Damn, people don't usually offer free shipping on bass cabs on reverb. Might have to jump on it

    212 Cab Suggestions

Now you've really got me thinking of getting a second NY 121 cab. It would be more cost effective and leave a little more budget for a head. I've got it narrowed down to either the Aguilar TH500 or 700, Aguilar AG700, or Mesa Subway D-800. Those NY cabs really do come in handy in tight spaces...

    212 Cab Suggestions

I don’t know how I missed the Genzler Classic 212. That would also fit the bill, haven’t heard much about them.

Great, another thing to think about! Not a horrible option. Are you happy with the sound you’re getting out of your TH head with the NY cabs?
