I've traced the vol pot issue to a faulty pot, the eBay seller I got it from quite some time ago has kindly agreed to send me another one. Still examining the treble issue.

So I swapped the two offending wires, the volume pot now works, but weirdly didn't go all the way to zero. With the pot turned all the way down there's still a small amount of signal. Also the treble pot doesn't do anything!

You're right, I've just had a look and the schematic with the blend pot has the blue wire on the middle lug, so I'm fairly sure this must be the issue. I may quickly put it back together and test it again next week. Off camping for a few days now!

I've disassembled it again now to prepare it for painting, so it will have to wait now for final assembly before testing the wiring again.

The blue wire is the input to the preamp, the white lead is the hot from the pickup. Chat gpt seems to think I should swap these over? I didn't have time to try it today.

Yeah I'll take a photo tomorrow when I'm back at work. It's a push/pull pot for series/ parallel. The push/ pull works, just not the volume.
