    Aguilar 5P-60 string spacing?

I just dropped a 4P-60 and a 4J-HC into a modified 87 MIJ Fender P Bass and aside from the volume dropping with both pickups wide open, the pickups sound amazing!

    E series Japanese Feneder PJ?

Very nice looking! So I pulled off the pickguard with my guitar tech and the rout for the extra knob and pickup were professionally done and the neck stamp matches the body! The truss rod also turned!

    Noiseless P/J Pickup suggestions

I get a lot of sustain from the BA II bridge, planning on replacing the nut with a bone nut at some point, if the pickups are too hot am I going to have an issue with low action?

    Noiseless P/J Pickup suggestions

Well I don't really know what I want. I want to keep a passive set up, I hate the way the J pickup sounds now, it seems weak compared to the P. I am replacing the pots to 250k CTS pots and a switchcraft jack. I want the J to sit well by itself and with the P. I would like something in between...

Copper tape under the pickguard and lining the cavity? Would it be better to paint the cavity? I still have not removed the pickguard, so I have no idea what I am dealing with.

    Noiseless P/J Pickup suggestions

Thinking about the aguilars, amazon has the pj set for under 200. If the aguilars balance so well then I may keep the V/V/T set up. I have not found a fender p bass pickguard with 4 holes in it, do I need to drill my own? Should I be concerned with shielding the aguilars, or nordy or hansons?

    Noiseless P/J Pickup suggestions

I was looking at the nordstrands, I like their tone, has anyone used aguilar pickups? I don't see the super 88s available anymore pretty much anywhere.

    Noiseless P/J Pickup suggestions

I believe most noiseless Jazz pickups use two stacked single coils one of then reversely wound to cancel the 60 cycle hum (roll the volume off one jazz pickup and you'll hear it).

    Noiseless P/J Pickup suggestions

I picked up a modified mid 80s Fender P bass with an added J. It has a rosewood fingerboard, and came with bartolinis installed. I am not a huge fan on the subdued sound of them. I am planning on changing the V/V/T to s 3 way switch and V/T. I want to get a noiseless J pickup. Wilde...

    E series Japanese Feneder PJ?

Yeah, I am certain it was an aftermarket mod. I really want to get the bartolinis out of there for something with some punch, but I don't want to lose out on some vintage sound. I was thinking a seymour duncan quarter pound P bass pickup and a Hot stack Jazz Bridge pickup and doing a 3 way...

Here it is, I plan on cleaning it up today and restringing it. I will pull out the j pickup and take a picture of the cavity.

New Bass, asking for opinions and other options!

I agree with the idea of planning a shopping day. You may want to bring your amp as well or see if they have a close facsimile. I also dial the amp eq flat as you can usually get a good idea of the tone. I just picked up a mid 80s japanese fender p for 450, already with a boatload of upgrades...

Im not a fan of stingrays, I owned one and I traded it for a rick, didn't like that one either. If you find a CV that plays well you can always swap out the stock pickups for hotter output, is you have a gain knob on your amp.

What is weird is it looks like a precision bass with the standard pickguard. It has the V/V/T knobs on, does not look like an amateur job.
