The Squier Mini has one feature that the original Junior did not have---both volume and tone controls, a valuable addition.

Is it possible to take the signal through the headphone out into a 10" or 12" cabinet? I'm thinking about this idea from my 15 watt Fender bass amp. what do you think?

You just described a Fender Mustang either w/ the original pickups or the current PJ setup with the the toggle set to P pickups only

Ibanez is probably the strongest bass line from high quality modest priced basses all the way to the stratosphere. Their 28.6 inch neck bass is modest in cost and big on performance. By the way, I'm a Fender guy so no bias and just facts.
