Official Crappy Bassist with Expensive Gear Club

Me three! I even put together a Frankenstein parts ‘51 using a pine body. It was a bad choice…I enlarged the string ferrule holes to countersink more vintage/bigger ferrules. The pine body was too soft and pulled the ferrules way too deep. I’ve brought the ferrules to the correct height by...

Fender James Jamerson 62 Precision - limited run?

I did not buy the JJ because it was a “signature model”; I bought it for the specs & because it had the pickup & bridge cover pre-installed (including the foam mute strip). I already own a real 1962 Precision that is immaculate except for the lower bout finish & slight, stable body seam...

Fender James Jamerson 62 Precision - limited run?

A lower price is a premium feature. One of the most costly, as a matter of fact.

I thought we were all Bozos on this bus. But I’m cool withthe Bonzo Dog Band, too—even including the Dooh Dah as well!

I’m pretty meh; borderline ugh, I should fit in.

Fender James Jamerson 62 Precision - limited run?

Yeah…it kind of sounds like that—but it’s really about 3 color sunbursts. I also have a 3 color sunburst’58…like Duck Dunn and Suzi Quatro. It’s got the original tweed case in excellent shape.

    I did a bad thing.

Update: We’ve called off our move for multiple reasons, but mainly it was depressing the hell out of us. In the last week, I have used most of the proceeds from the sale of my instruments to six basses that had been on my wish list. Born to be bad.

People with multiple versions of the same bass—why?

I have an addictive personality disorder. I’ve got 5 variations of Hofner violin basses: Cavern, ‘62 RI, a lined fretless ‘63 RI with ebony board & carved ebony nut, an blue-burst Ltd run ‘63 RIand a 1967 or so 5000/1 with Tone-mix active circuit. I traded away a 6th—a sunburst ‘63 RI…I’m not...

Fender James Jamerson 62 Precision - limited run?

I’m sorry for misspelling Mr. Jamerson’s name…it was a long day!

Fender James Jamerson 62 Precision - limited run?

Mine just arrived today, & I’m very pleased with it. I have a real 1962 Precision in Olympic White (before clear coats, so it is perfectly white), and a 1992 Sunburst American Vintage reissue ‘62. Now I’ve got the 2026 James Jameson. As far as I have noticed, the biggest “deficiencies” the...

    I did a bad thing.

That should be “daughter” singular. We only have one kid & she’s pushing 50. She’s an also a bass player & keyboard player. She plays upright & electric bass…I’ve gifted her with every electric bass & amp she owns. We used to joke that those donations are what kept me from going into a...

    I did a bad thing.

Totally understandable…I’m 77 & we are downsizing and moving from Florida to Arizona to be close to our daughters. I’ve developed mobility issues & can no longer climb a step or two to climb on stage. I played my last gig in Feb 2025 & quit my ban a few months later. I donated my PA system to...

New "vintage" germanium bass fuzz pedal from Hofner

I've been looking for one of these for several years, but never find one for sale. I actually don't think it has the "Think For Yourself" fuzz bass tone. I used to have an original Maestro Bassmaster that sounded dead on to me, but unfortunately I sold it way too early! My Germanium...
