Can”t hear any bass at live shows anymore

The ironic part. You go to any small venue now (500-1000), the house sound is incredible. Best it's ever been. FOH systems are amazing now. The arena's choose to sound like crap.

Can”t hear any bass at live shows anymore

I think a lot of it has to do with Hip Hop shows - where for the majority rhythm is all anyone cares about. There's no musical complexity to a 50-Cent show, it's just drums with an occasional unimportant sample and vocals. For type of shows, you want the bass drum taking over the entire...

Can”t hear any bass at live shows anymore

Somewhere in the early 2000's sound engineers at large venues came to the agreement that the Bass drum should sound like a door slamming, and take precedent over everything else in the mix. I live near multiple arenas, and won't go to shows at any of them because of this.

Is there a technical music term for this?

Than I guess it's on Clapton for not coming up with something more interesting.

Is there a technical music term for this?

It's different when it's done for a phrase or as part of a accent - as opposed to say... Slayer where the guitarist just could have brought an OC2 Yes.. .as far as Cream songs go... yes. Zero value add by one of the greatest bassists of the era.

Can I go wireless between preamp and power amp?

I suppose you could, but honestly, seems like more trouble than it's worth. The cable from the pedal board to the amp is fixed, it's rarely a problem. It's the instrument-pedal board cable that moves around and gets tangled up. My main question would be: does the receiver have an internal...

The Dingwall is back from its refresh

Hmm - gonna have to think about the strap mount setup... makes sense. J RE rail bridges, I guess you could argue the body wood would damp the cross talk to some degree. But than again I don't think I've ever found myself worried about crosstalk at a gig.

The Dingwall is back from its refresh

The individual rail bridges, in this case, don't have screw adjustors. To adjust intonation, you slide the saddles by hand, than tighten down using a jam-screw. It makes adjusting intonation difficult at best. More modern rail bridges don't have this problem but would require filling and...

Amps with low or no fan noise?

Cool. I only know Demeter says not to fun fanless for extended periods. I haven’t tested; and don’t own Demeter

The Dingwall is back from its refresh

Funny story, those pickups are actually current model Dingwall’s in EMG shells. Nordstrand does have replacements that fit the Dingwall pockets if you were so inclined

Amps with low or no fan noise?

Some Demeter amps come with a switch to turn the fans off when in the studio. But you can’t run those fan-less for long

Boutique basses of a bygone era?

This was built by my buddy Keith for Tiran Porter, of The Doobie Brothers, in 1985. Interesting pickup combo. A pickup from his 60's Gibson EB3, a Dan Armstrong pickup, and a Bartolini.

The Dingwall is back from its refresh

A little background, I bought this early Dingwall Combustion used about 10 years ago. Great instrument, but I've always hated the factory individual bridges with the tension lock intonation sliders. A few months ago I pulled the trigger on a 1 piece bridge from Payson, along with a set of...
